Gene: [00.0/PLKG] plakoglobin (common junctional plaque protein);

GEN

The primary polypeptide product contains 744 amino acid residues (MM 81.75 kD) and is translated from a single mRNA species (3.4 kb), although a minor mRNA species (3.7 kb) also occurs in some tumor cells. This minor mRNA has a 297-bp insertion in the 3'-unt region."

MOP

Plakoglobin is an intracellular protein representing the main structural component of so called subplasmalemmal 'densities' or submembranous 'plaques'. It occurs as either the membrane-associated form (in the desmosome plaques formed by intermediate filaments or in the actin plaques formed by microfilaments) or the soluble (cytoplasmic) 7S form, which constitutes up to 30% of the total plakoglobin content."
