[1] RNU1 is supposed to constitute a part of a cluster which comprises up
to 12 (Buckland-1989), 15 (Bernstein-1985), or 28 (Lund-1984)
functionally active gene copies (per haploid genome). The other part
comprises approximately the same number of gene copies encoding
asparagine
(Asn/N) and glutamic acid (Glu/E) tRNAs (GEM:01p363/TRN; GEM:01p363/TRE).
In addition, there is another cluster of the same genes that are
apparently
pseudogenes and reside in the long arm of the same chromosome (see
GEM:01q/RNU1P1). According to Buckland-1989,
the latter cluster contains
up to 48 RNU1 pseudogenes/haploid genome.
