The Rh-polypeptides C, D, and E are very similar owing to the common evolutionary origin. The homology between C and E peptides is higher than the homology between each of them and the D peptide (Blanchard-1988). Until recently, the C, D, and E polypeptides were thought to be encoded by independent loci, though located close to each other. Recently, it was shown that both C and E isoforms are controlled by the same gene locus (Colin-1991)." |
