Gene: [07q2/GNAI1] guanine nucleotide binding protein (G protein), alpha inhibiting activity polypeptide 1; adenylate cyclase inhibitor GI, alpha-I1;

GEN

The gene consists of three exons and four introns. The human mRNAs are 2.2 and 3.9 kb in length. Five GC blocks were found that are located 118, 182, 354, 364, and 533 bp upstream the start and a TGTTCT block, 784 bp upstream the start, were found. Typical TATA-like sequences and CCAAT blocks are lacking."

EVO

The human alpha-I1 protein is almost identical to the bovine alpha-I peptide with respect to amino acid sequence. The coding region of human gene is highly homologous to cDNA of bovine alpha-GI; their 5'-flanking regions also share homology. The values of homology for flanking regions (positions 1-115) is 71%, and for coding regions (exons 1-3), 96-100%."
