Gene: [10q2/SFTPA1] surfactant, pulmonary-associated protein A1 (SP-A1; 35kD); [SFTP1 PSPA ]

MOP

Surfactant-associated protein A1 (in contrast to highly hydrophobic peptides 2 and 3) is a water-soluble protein. It decreases the surface tensionin in lung alveoles through stimulation of the surfactant lipid uptake by type II alveolocytes and suppression of surface-active substance secretion by these cells."
