Considerable distinctions in denotation of salivary proline-rich proteins exist in literature. According to Kim-1986 and Azen-1987, proteins Pa (Parotid acidic), Db (Double-band), and PIF (Parotid Isoelectric Focusing) are considered as products of alleles of PRH1 locus, while PR1, PR1', and PR2 are considered as those of PRH2 locus. However, Hay-1988 considers the sequences of six proteins, besides Pa (PRP-1, PRP-2, PRP-3, PRP-4, PIF-S, and PIF-F), and two more proteins (Db-S and Db-F) are mentioned, but without a comparison with other authors' denotations." |
