Devilee-1985 (using probe pL1.26) showed a similarity between centromeric alpha-satellites on Chr 13 and 21. Later, Jorgensen-1987 (using probe aRI-680/13-5) showed an almost complete identity of centromeric alpha-satellites on Chr 13 and 21 (GEM:21p111/D21Z1). It was also shown that centromeric alpha-satellite on Chr 22 (probe aXI-1020/22-73) does not share homology with aRI(680) family on Chr 21 but reveals other homologous sequences on Chr 13 (see also GEM:13p111/D13Z2)."
