Chang-1994 identified a ser120-to-gly substitution in the NM23 gene in 6 of 28 advanced neuroblastomas but in none of 22 limited-stage neuroblastomas. The mutation was inherited in 1 case and was a somatically acquired mutation in a second case. It was not found in 36 normal individuals and was not found in 26 breast carcinomas in 17 acute leukemias, excluding the possibility that it represents a common polymorphism." |
