With the aid of TRA-1-85 monoclonal antibodies, the antigens OK was found on the surface of all human cells, as well as gorilla and chimpanzee red blood cells. These antigenes are lacking in persons with extremely rare phenotype OK(a-) and on red blood cells of Rhesus monkey, baboon, and marmoset, as well as on murine cultured cells."
