[1] Beta subunits of chorionic gonadotropin and luteinizing hormone (GEM:19q133/LHB) are supposed (Boorstein-1982) to be encoded by components of the gene cluster containing at least eight genes (pseudogenes). At least six (Graham-1987) or seven (Talmadge-1983,1984) of them are classified as CGB genes; all of them originate from a single ancestral LHB gene.
