Nine gamma-actin pseudogenes are known (ACTGP/1-9). Two gamma pseudogenes, mapped to chrs 3 and Yq11 and sequenced by Gomez-Pedrozo-1987, differ from a gamma pseudogene described by Leube-1986. The HUGEN has registered this third gamma pseudogene as GEM:00.0/ACTGP3. The fourth gamma pseudogene is also identified. It overlaps the coding region of a salivary amylase gene AMY1 located in the short arm of chr 1 (see GEM:01p21/AMY1A)."
