[1] S100 proteins are low molecular weight calcium-binding proteins
containing the EF-hand motif which are apparently involved in the
regulation of a number of cellular processes such as cell cycle
progression and differentiation.
[2] S100 protein has 2 subunits, alpha and beta (see 21q223/S100B). Its molecule is a dimer of two alpha chains, or alpha and beta chains, or two beta chains." |
