By cell hybridization methods, the structural locus for esterase A4 has been localized to chromosome 11 (Busby et al., 1976). Wang et al. (1981) assigned the locus for porphobilinogen deaminase and that for esterase A4 to 11q23-qter. Laisney et al. (1983) assigned the ESA4 gene to 11q13-q22.
