HGNC Approved Gene Symbol: GUK2
Cytogenetic location: 1q32.1-q42 Genomic coordinates (GRCh38): 1:198,700,001-236,400,000
From study of human-Chinese hamster hybrids, Meera Khan et al. (1974) concluded that 2 guanylate kinase components, GUK1 (139270) and GUK2, demonstrated electrophoretically, are determined by separate loci on chromosome 1 distal to q22. GUK3 (139290) is also believed to be determined by a separate locus. Monn and Christiansen (1972) screened 385 persons in a systematic search for genetically determined variants in man, but in vain.
