HGNC Approved Gene Symbol: CATR1
Cytogenetic location: 7q32 Genomic coordinates (GRCh38): 7:127,500,001-132,900,000
Using Southern analysis, Northern analysis, and RT-PCR, Li et al. (1995) cloned a gene, which they designated CATR1.3, that was involved in the transfection-induced tumorigenic conversion of a human squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) line in nude mice. The nucleotide sequence of CATR1.3 encodes a peptide of 79 amino acids and has a long 3-prime untranslated region. As a generality, Li et al. (1995) pointed out that the combination of transfection-mediated expression cloning and tumorigenic selection in nude mice can be used to identify unknown tumor susceptibility genes.
Hayashida et al. (2000) constructed a 1-Mb physical and transcript map of 7q32 and mapped CATR1 to a region between D7S530 and D7S649.
