HGNC Approved Gene Symbol: ZNF184
Cytogenetic location: 6p22.1 Genomic coordinates (GRCh38): 6:27,404,006-27,473,105 (from NCBI)
By exon trapping using YAC contigs spanning the 6p21.3 region, which contains a cluster of zinc finger protein genes, Goldwurm et al. (1997) isolated a partial cDNA, designated ZNF184, from a placental library. Sequence analysis indicated that ZNF184 is a classic Kruppel zinc finger gene with a conserved C2H2 domain at the C terminus and Kruppel-associated boxes (KRAB) A and B at the N terminus. Northern blot analysis revealed expression of ZNF184 as a 3.2-kb transcript in all tissues analyzed, with predominant expression in testis.
