Kanaoka and Nojima (1994) isolated 2 multicopy suppressors of yeast cdc2 kinase and cdc13 cyclin mutants, and designated them SCR2 (602310) and SCR3. SCR3 encodes a predicted 407-amino acid protein with 2 RNA-binding motifs. Kanaoka and Nojima (1994) suggested that SCR3 suppresses cdc2 kinase and cdc13 cyclin mutants through the induction of translation of cdc2. On Northern blots, SCR3 was expressed as multiple mRNAs in most cell lines tested, but not in HeLa.
Gross (2014) mapped the RBMS2 gene to chromosome 12q13.3 based on an alignment of the RBMS2 sequence (GenBank BC072679) with the genomic sequence (GRCh38).
