Gene: [00.0/PRKMK7] protein kinase, mitogen-activated, kinase 7; MAP kinase kinase 7 (MAPKK 7); JNK-activating kinase 2;

FUN

[1] The JNKK2/PRKMK7 gene product is a specific activator of kinases JNK1 (GEM:10^/PRKM8) and JNK2 (GEM:05q35/PRKM9) participating thus in modulating of gene expression (Wu-1997). About protein kinase cascades see in: GEM:15q22/PRKMK1.
[2] The most potent activator of PRKM kinase 7 is MEKK1 (GEM:05^/MEKK1). Other activators are: MEKK2, GCK (GEM:11q13/RAB8IP), ASK1 (GEM:06q2233/MEKK5), RAC (e.g., GEM:00.0/RAC1), CDC42 (GEM:01p361/CDC42) (Wu-1997; Lu-1997; Foltz-1998), and constitutively active mutants of RAS (e.g., GEM:05q13/RASA1) (Foltz-1998)."

MOP

The mRNA for MKK7 is widely expressed in humans and mice and encodes a 47-kDa protein (419 amino acids). The kinase domain of MKK7 is closely related to a Drosophila JNK kinase dHep (69% identity) and to a newly identified ortholog from C.elegans (54% identity), and was more distantly related to MKK3 (GEM:17q112/PRKMK3), MKK4 (GEM:17p112/SERK1), and MKK6 (GEM:00.0/PRKMK5) (Foltz-1998)."
