TGFB acts in the manner similar to that of alpha transforming growth factor (GEM:02p13/TGFA). However, TGFB genes are components of another multigene family (along with inhibins). TGFB molecule comprises three different peptides, the genes being located in chromosomes 19 and 14 (see GEM:19q131/TGFB1 and GEM:14q24/TGFB3)."
