The predicted amino acid sequence of the putative gene product contains a Src homology 2 (SH2) domain, a Src homology 3 (SH3)-binding domain, and a pleckstrin (GEM:00.0/P47) homology domain, suggesting a possible role in signal transduction. Bell et al. found no evidence to indicate that SH3BP2 is the tumor suppressor gene at 4p16.3 involved in bladder cancer (Bell-1997); however, it is a gene of interest because of potential negative regulation of the ABL oncogene (GEM:09q341/ABL1)."
