Gene: [12p13/M6PRD] mannose 6-phosphate receptor, cation-dependent; [M6PR MAN6PRD]

FUN

Two types of mannose 6-phosphate receptor are known. One of them (cation-dependent, encoding by M6PRD gene) binds lysosomal hydrolases that are synthesized inside the cell, and the other (cation-independent, encoding by M6PRI gene) binds hydrolases that enter the cell via endocytosis."

FAG

M6PRI gene is mapped and sequenced (see GEM:06q253/IGF2R).
