Gene: [04q1/STATH] statherin (salivary protein); [STR SPFSTAT ]
ASS | The protein suppresses intensively the crystal growth and precipitation of calcium phosphates; the deterioration of its functions may cause the dentin pathology. The dentinogenesis imperfecta and periodontitis (GEM:04q1/DGI and GEM:04q1/JPD, respectively) were mapped to chromosome 4q independently (on the basis of linkage with vitamin D binding protein, GEM:04q1/GC, and of recombination with each other). Taking all this into account, the MIM catalogue does not exclude that DGI and JPD are in fact allelic variants of the STATH gene." |
FAG | Although the main salivary protein gene cluster is located in Chr 12p (see FAM:SPF12P/12p132), genes for a number of other proteins with similar functions are mapped in Chr 4 (see GEM:04q13/HTN1)." |
