Gene: [13q14/IGHEE] immunoglobulin-E expression regulator (basal serum level); atopic IgE responsiveness (allergic asthma and rhinitis?); [IGHER IGEL ]

COM

[1] Symbol IGHER (or IGER), which is adopted in MIM and some other sources, does not fit well this gene, because the character R at the end of symbol means (in terms of the HGM denotation) that product of the gene is a receptor. This is not established for this gene yet; therefore, the GEM catalogue has adopted symbol IGHEE.
[2] The OMIM catalogue describes markers APY# (APY2*) and IGEL# (IGHEE*) under the same number, although it indicates that they are determined by different genes in chrs 11 and 13."

HET

MIM and GDB mention two additional markers concerning atopies (bronchial asthma and hay fever or allergic rhinitis): GEM:01q23/IGHER1A and GEM:11q13/IGER. Their genetic and functional relationships remain unclear."
