and HGM catalogues assign the symbol ENO2 to gene of neuronal enolase (and
not muscle one, as in preceding edittions of HGM). This was based on the
report (Craig-1989) that, in experiments with in situ hybridization on
chromosome, cloned cDNA for neuronal enolase is found as a major signal in
the region 12p13, where the gene for 'second enolase activity' was
previously mapped (see also GEM:12p13/ENO2).
[2] It is interesting that in the same study (Craig-1989) two minor hybridization sites were also found; one was in 1p36, where ENO1 was located, and the other was in 17pt-p12, that is probably accounted for by the use of not quite gene-specific probe (the small segment of the gene coding region contained in 0.7 kb cDNA fragment reveals the most homologous regions of all the three enolase genes)." |
