Beta-A inhibin gene encodes one of the chains of inhibins and activins - gonadal glycoprotein hormones - that regulate the secretion of the hypophyseal follicle stimulating hormone (FSH). [1] Inhibin beta peptides have MM 10.7 kD (94 amino acids) and have been shown to be unglycosilated. In SDS electrophoresis, the beta peptide is revealed at the 14-kD band, however this is thought to be a result of abnormal migration in such a gele.
